Books that kids want to read

Novels in verse are not a new genre, but they sure are fire with kids these days. The ease of reading them, the pace the story unfolds and the themes they hold are all connecting with readers. My students have asked me to keep any novels in verse separate for them to find easily- which is why I’ve created a separate space for them on my site.

Here are just a few awesome novels in verse I would recommend to strong fourth graders all the way up to eighth graders.
